Stress is only second to sunlight in terms of aging. Warning: Science-oriented stuff! To describe a bit how your cells work: cells are always looking for homeostasis, which is a middle ground, most comfortable position in its environment. If there is not enough of something (moisture for example), the cells release the water inside of them to compensate.
